The fifth annual Yankee Springs Fall Trail Run Festival is on the calendar for October 3, 2020. Since it worked out well last fall we’ll again stage the race at Deep Lake Campground. You’ll have three distances to choose from: 10k(ish), 25k, and 50k.
Date: Saturday October 3, 2020
COVID-19 update: We have received approval from the DNR to hold the event with certain health measures to comply with the current executive order in Michigan. We are limited to 100 participants including race staff. We will have individual “time trial” starts. We will have aid stations with bottles of water and Gatorade, but not the usual selection of food, so plan accordingly. There will be space at the start/finish for drop bags.
Don’t wait to sign up because we will reach our limit soon!

- Registration: 7:00 am-12:00 noon
- 50k start: 8:00 am-12:00 noon
- 25k start: 9:00 am-12:00 noon
- 10k start: 10:00 am-12:00 noon
- cut-off time: 5:00 pm
Individual start details:
In order to reduce crowding at the start/finish we are allowing runners to start any time within the scheduled hours above. Basically you show up, get registered, and start. We will record your start time. The cut-off time is 5:00 pm for everyone, so plan on starting early enough to make the cut-off time at your pace.
The courses: We are using a lot of the same beautiful rolling single track trails as our winter and spring races, but with some modifications. There will be a 10k (ish) loop and a 25k loop. The 50k is the 25k loop twice. Click here for a course description and maps.
Aid Stations: There will be one aid station on the 10k loop and four on the 25k course. For health concerns, the aid stations will only serve water and Gatorade in individual disposable bottles. Plan accordingly and bring any food you need for the race. For 50k runners there will be an area for drop bags at the start/finish.
Pacers: Because of the limited number of participants allowed under the current Executive Order we are not allowing pacers at this event.
Spectators and crew: To comply with the limited number of participants we cannot allow spectators or crew in the start/finish area.
Camping: Yankee Springs State Recreation Area has two campgrounds. Rustic camping is available at the Deep Lake Campground near the start/finish. If you prefer a modern campground, check out the Gun Lake Campground. To reserve a site at either campground go to the DNR website.
