Yankee Springs Trail Run

The fifth annual Yankee Springs Trail Run Weekend is on the calendar for May 29-31, 2015. We are again offering a weekend of races including a 10k Friday night, a marathon and double marathon on Saturday, and a half marathon on Sunday. Choose one of the four races or combine two or three days of racing! Make a weekend of it and stay in one of the cabins.

Race Schedule:
Check-in time for the Long Lake Outdoor Center Friday 3:00 pm
10k start: Friday 8:00 pm
Double Marathon start: Saturday 6:00 am
Marathon start: Saturday 7:00 am
Cut-off time for the marathon and double marathon: Saturday 8:00 pm
Half Marathon start: Sunday 7:00 am
Cut-off time for the half marathon: 12:00 noon
Check-out time for the Long Lake Outdoor Center: 1:00 pm

Packet Pickup will be in the lodge at the Long Lake Outdoor Center before each race.

The Courses: The courses are 100% single track trail through the woods of the Yankee Springs Recreation Area. The terrain features hills and valleys carved by glaciers as well as a fair amount of rocks and roots to dance around. There will be a 10k loop and a half marathon loop. The marathon and double marathon are 2 and 4 loops of the half marathon course.

Aid Stations: The aid stations will be between 2.5 and 4 miles apart. There will be one on the 10k course, three on the 13.1 mile loop, and one at the start/finish.

All aid stations will have water and Gatorade.

The half, full and double marathon aid stations will also have:
sweet snacks (cookies, trail mix, m&n’s, etc.)
salty snacks (chips, etc.)
fruit (oranges and bananas)

The the first and third aid stations for the full and double marathons will also serve:
soup
sandwiches (pb&j and grilled cheese)
boiled potatoes with salt

We will not be providing gels at the aid stations, so if you use gels, we recommend you bring your own favorite flavor.


Lodging: We recommend staying in one of the cabins at the Long Lake Outdoor Center. The cabins are rustic but clean and well maintained. We are offering the option of a single bunk or a whole cabin. With lodging you will have access to showers and toilets in the bath house. You will need to bring your own bedding or a sleeping bag. For this race we rent the whole facility, so reserve an individual bunk or a whole cabin through us when you register for the race.

If you prefer tent or RV camping you can stay in one of the state park campgrounds nearby. For information and reservations go to the state park website.

Shirts are optional at an additional $10-$12. We are offering a choice of short sleeve or sleeveless tech shirts. Please register by Sunday, May 17 if you would like a shirt.

Refunds and transfers:
Full refund minus the online registration fee until March 31.
50% refund minus the online registration fee April 1-April 30.
Transfers allowed until April 30.
No refunds or transfers from May 1 to race day.
